SAHANA is a California based non-profit organization (Tax exempt under 501 (c)(3) of IRS) structured to preserve South Asian Heritage and Arts through Education in Fine Arts & Music in the Greater Sacramento Community. SAHANA provides an opportunity to local artists in the Sacramento region to show case their talent to a wider audience in a professional atmosphere.  Our goal is to nurture and promote dance, music and fine arts that originated from the Indian sub-continent (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, India, Nepal,  Pakistan and SriLanka) , in our local community.

The mission of this organization is to sustain, nurture and promote awareness of South Asian art forms by creating opportunities for future generations in the greater Sacramento area.

SAHANA, in Sanskrit, refers to a raga in classical Indian music, and contains the ethos of freedom and patience.

The organization of SAHANA was formed to nurture and promote awareness of South Asian heritage by creating opportunities for the community and our youth in the Greater Sacramento Area.  It is our hope that through SAHANA there can be a deeper understanding and appreciation of  the rich heritage of the South Asian cultures in our community.

SAHANA's board members and advisory committees represent a cross-section of individuals dedicated to the promotion of SAHANA's goals and committed to make a positive contribution to the Greater Sacramento area through the activities of SAHANA.
